Unwanted coats, not homes, are being sought at Nueaton’s Hawkins Estate Agents as they aim to help the homeless.

It’s Coat Drive campaign, which is part of the agents giving initiative, aims to help people living on the street to have something war to wear.

If you have some coats you don’t want, hurry, as the appeal closes on 16th March.  Call into the office in Newdegate Street with your donation.

After the appeal has closed Hawkins will gather all the donations and visit homeless charities in the town donating the coats to as many as the number of donations allows.

If you know of anyone who is homeless Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC) has the responsibility to temporarily accommodate anyone who is homeless in severe weather conditions, regardless of any restrictions that would apply under normal weather conditions.

Housing officers will arrange temporary accommodation in a hostel or Bed and Breakfast in the Borough or as near as possible for a period required by the weather conditions.

Anyone sleeping rough on the streets should contact the Housing Options Service at the Town Hall on 024 7637 6376 during office hours or the Out of Hours service on 024 7638 2153 at other times.
