Some Warwickshire residents have reported receiving cold calls from alarm/security companies who are seeking to sell their products by playing on the insecurities of the people they phone with bogus crime statistics and false claims.
The callers will often state that their alarm systems are free or cost only a few hundred pounds. However, once in a consumer’s home, high pressure sales techniques are employed with a view to bully and scare householders into paying thousands for overpriced and unnecessary alarm systems, some of which come with long and very costly monitoring contracts.
NEVER invite cold callers to your home. You can’t tell a good trader from a bad one either on the phone or on the doorstep.
