Warwickshire residents are warned to beware of rogue traders after reports of a ‘diseased tree’ and ‘moss paint, costing residents over £1700.
In one incident the resident was cold called and told that the tree in his garden was diseased and would have to be cut down. He was told that if he did not agree, the caller would report him to the council. The rogue trader charged him over £1000 for the unnecessary work.
In the second case the resident received a knock at her door from men who claimed they had taken over the company that had ‘done her walls and roof.’ The bogus callers then stated that they wanted to check the property to see if anything needed doing ‘under guarantee.’ They then went on to claim that the roof needed repairing and painting to prevent moss growth. All this was unnecessary. The resident paid the rogue traders over £700 in cash.
NEVER agree to any cold callers carrying out work on your property, whatever they claim.
