Old style dog bins are being removed across the Borough and a host of new dual use bins installed. .
Pet owners are urged to make use of the new dual use bins or take their pets waste home to dispose of in their own domestic waste bin. The move is to make it easier for those with dogs to locate suitable bins in parks and open spaces and ensures that adequate provision is made in all areas of the Borough.
Pet lovers can now also use ordinary bins for dog waste as the Environment Agency not longer requires dog waste to be kept separate from general waste – the only exceptions are bins next to benches and children’s playgrounds – these bins will be clearly labelled. Red dog bins can now also take general waste, these bins will also be clearly labelled.
In order to ensure an even coverage across the Borough any of the dog bins that were under used have been relocated to areas where there was not adequate provision.
