Making Sure Everyone gets a Break

Camp Hill Young People’s Holiday Scheme (CHYPS) aims to send local young people, aged 7 to 17, on holidays and trips that they would otherwise not be able to go on.  The scheme is jointly run by the CHYPS Committee and the Pride in Camp Hill project.

The participants are sent, free of charge, on fully supervised holidays and trips.  In order to be able to take part the young people need to be willing to take part in local community activities such as clearing gardens for local residents.

Referrals to the scheme can be made by schools, residents, community groups, agencies or individuals.

The contact with local families when arranging and participating in trips enables Pride in Camp Hill staff to get to know residents and hopefully form working relationships with them.  This will help the staff provide the help and services needed by the community.

Parents get fully involved with CHYPS by attending meetings, helping with fundraising, volunteering on the trips and becoming Committee members.  Without the involvement of residents and community members the scheme would falter

Camp Hill Young People’s Holiday Scheme works in partnership with Camp Hill Education, Sports and Social Centre, the Family Holiday Association, Falcon Camps and Leicester Children’s Holiday Centre.  The scheme does not receive core funding and so strives to attract donations from organisations and private contributors.
