The Midland Quarry site off Tuttle Hill in Nuneaton, a former quartzite and diorite quarry, extends to approximately 29 Hectares, between Abbey Green and Camp Hill. It forms Phase 4 of the development of Camp Hill. Brought by British Coal in 1980 as a potentil location for disposal of unwanted colliery spoil, the site was subsequently sold to Minivest Plc with the intention of creating a mixed use development. Working with Warwickshire County Council, Advantage West Midlands and Government Office for the West Midlands, Minivest developed a business plan with gap funding and access infrastructure support required. |

The ownership of Midland Quarry changed again in 2005 from Minivest to Smart Developments (Midlands) Ltd. Nick Smart, of Smart developments, subsequently sold the housing development area to Redrow Homes to allow focus on the employment workspace construction.
Included in the plans is the creation of 10 new light industrial units with a proposed floor space of 74,000 sq feet. 32,000 sq ft of this space has already been pre-let to Arleigh International, Europe’s largest supplier of accessories and spares for holiday homes.
Recent Developments:
As part of the camp Hill redevelopments a new road network was established, including a new access road serving Midland Quarry and directing industrial traffic away from the residential areas. This road was completed in November 06.
Over the past 3-4 years Midland Quarry site has been transformed. With financial support from the European Regional Development Fund and Advantage West Midlands the project combines engineering excellence with the imagination of the Private sector to bring about significant investment to this area of Nuneaton.
The Midland Quarry project also featured prominently in the Town and County Planning Association report on unlocking public land for housing supply, highlighting the strong public, private partnership and the development framework which has served to steer the development as we see it today.
The investment and re-location of Arleigh International secures the Midland Quarry site, along with the neighbouring Poole Road Industrial estate as an attractive area for businesses to operate.
With active marketing from Loveitts Commercial and Evans Hardy Bromwich the letting of the additional workspace looks promising for the near future.
In March 2010, Redrow Homes started construction on the new homes on the site and the new road junction at Tuttle Hill. Click here to see a plan of the new homes to be built on the Midland Quarry site.
