Warwickshire County Council is ‘open for business’ as icy conditions continue, working closely with partners to keep Warwickshire’s communities safe and functioning as normally as possible.
Warwickshire’s fleet of gritters was poised and ready to take on the snow when it arrived at the weekend to help keep roads moving across the County. Since Friday they have covered over 11,000 miles of road and used almost 2,000 tonnes of salt in a bid to make Warwickshire’s roads safer. The Highways Team continuously grits and spreads over many hours, including the night.
Warwickshire’s Fire and Rescue Service have also been working around the clock in partnership with Warwickshire Police and other agencies in a bid to keep the county moving safely.
Keeping residents informed with up to date information has been key, with tens of thousands of people logging onto the Council’s website to find out essential information. The website page Service Disruption – Snow has become a crucial hub in providing a host of information and links including the latest news, weather updates, school closures, recycling information, library openings, travel advice and social care news.
